About me
I am Ximena Trías, I have dual nationality, Uruguayan by birth and naturalized Mexican. I have lived in Mexico for almost the same amount of time as I have lived in Uruguay, so I consider myself to be from both countries almost equally.
I have always loved art and design, since I was a little girl (among other things). This led me to study three careers focused on those areas: Plastic Arts (UROU, Uruguay), Fashion Design (CUJK, Mexico) and Theatrical Design (EMAD, Uruguay).
I have worked in all three areas, but due to personal reasons I have not been able to dedicate myself 100 percent to the visual arts, so I began this career as an adult, but I always continued painting, researching, and studying.
My first oil painting was at the age of 14, self-taught by imitating photographs, and at 18 I decided to go to university. My school was very open in its methodology, they encouraged the student to experiment, investigate and gradually create their own style, without being rigid in the classical technique.
Since then, the artistic avant-garde, specifically expressionism and constructivism, was what I fell in love with the most; but I am interested in learning about all eras and cultures.
So, since school, my style has been leaning towards expressionism-caricature, as I called it, with themes of my identity, Uruguayan origin, of daily life and customs.
Through life experiences, changing countries, health problems, serious accidents, etc., I began to approach Eastern philosophies in search of a little peace, greater awareness, and to rid myself of many things, both material and thoughts, that did not contribute anything positive to my life.
In this process I was getting closer to abstraction, to geometry, to the origin of everything, to finding beauty in the "imperfect" line, to the silence of the image...
That is my process today, researching, experimenting with stains, geometry, architecture, organic and abstract forms, freehand lines... I am not interested in "perfection", only in unmasking the soul of the forms. But I don't like to pigeonhole myself into a style, because I want to be free to experiment with whatever I want and need at that moment. For me, that is evolving, along with the internal, emotional and living rhythm of whatever I am going through.
Within my work experience, I had some exhibitions at special events to which I was invited in Mexico, I had personalized commissions and I gave classes of Plastic Arts for children from one and a half years old (stimulation through art) to young people of 17 years old, for almost 15 years. In private schools, workshops and my own workshop.
Now I dedicate myself to developing my plastic work and teaching creativity classes through the plastic arts to adults from 20 years old onwards, to senior citizens, in my own private studio.
